Code Is Not Enough; How community multiplies what Python can do

I've spent the past few years teaching Python to total beginners in Accra; some who had never touched a keyboard before, some who walked in convinced that tech simply wasn't “for them.” Somewhere in that process, I learned something I didn't expect: the syntax was never the hard part. Belonging was.
This talk is about what I've learned, often the hard way, about building Python communities that actually hold people; communities where someone who walks in unsure they belong walks out as a builder, a peer, and sometimes a teacher to someone else. I'll share what worked, what failed publicly and embarrassingly, and the practical frameworks I now use to design for community first and curriculum second.
Toward the end, I'll talk about Becc Academy; the social enterprise I co-founded in Accra; as a concrete example of what happens when a Python learning community takes these ideas seriously. But this talk isn't really about Becc Academy. It's about a pattern I believe any Pythonista building or growing a community can use, wherever they are.
